Improving the Quality of Life with Technology: 4 Ways Our Solutions Have Improved Business Processes.

by Cynthia Eze

Overtime, technology seems to advance so fast that keeping up to latest innovations is more or less impossible. Today, the importance of technology in the society can never be underestimated— from simple manual chores to more complex industrial systems, technology has made our activities more straightforward and more accessible and easier than ever before.

13 years ago when Seamfix started, we were not specific about the problems we wanted to solve, but we were very much interested in assisting businesses thrive—we asked ourselves: what are these businesses trying to achieve? What are the problems they are facing? How can we help make their processes easier? How can we make them satisfy their end customers? Will these processes improve the quality of their businesses or lives?

We focused on these three keywords, which are Improvement, digitization, customer satisfaction, and better quality of life—exactly what our mission was.

Quality of life is a very ambiguous term, but I will break down this term for the sake of simplicity. What I meant by quality of life, this has to do with comfort, satisfaction, and happiness—towards businesses, and life generally, because businesses are part of our day to day lives. Right from the inception at Seamfix, we have always been committed to be part of this evolution of digital transformation. Launching as a startup with no investors wasn’t a smooth journey, but our problem-solving attitude and hunger towards digital transformation made it easy for us to create innovative technology solutions which is able to empower businesses to have the capacity to meet their customers’ needs and deliver satisfaction at maximum level, with high-quality service-in today’s competitive business world, understanding your customers is very important, this means that providing a strong customer experience has become a necessity in order to sustain a successful business.

Notwithstanding, let us take a giant leap and discover the best ways technology has improved the quality of business processes today-these were culled from our own experiences.

Increased efficiency and productivity

It is no news that dealing with physical documents slows down a process. For example, if there is a request for a particular data or record, you must have to physically search for this data—may be amongst files. What if this record has been misfiled, or even lost? This alone, delays business activities. Again, doing anything manually makes the process prone to error.

The whole process is made easier with technological solutions, we realized that we can cut down record or data retrieval process. With software solutions, everything is stored in an accessible format, accessing each file as fast as possible. Through this, Employees can have time to do more crucial tasks, rather spending their time tediously running through physical archives.

Accuracy in Statistics

Asides storing and transforming data, Statistics was once excessively limited. Companies would only get access to reports on a monthly basis, making it difficult to make highly informed business decisions. With the use of automated software tools, employees can collect and analyze data in real time which can be displayed and sent out as reports whenever needed.

Now that everything is digital, businesses and organizations can have access to centralized dashboards that provide the most important metrics displayed instead of having to schedule meetings in which you spend time showing slides with statistics.

Most importantly, technology has made it easier to collect and analyze massive amounts of data to help improve decision making while also making it easy to share reports throughout your organization at any point in time.

  Confidentiality and Security.

One of our main aims for  digitizing manual processes was not just to store data, but secure data.  Digitization enhances the security of a document and maintains confidentiality. Since scanned documents are traceable, only certain users can access documents if necessary. Information stored on paper is degradable information as paper degrades every time it is handled manually. Document image processing keeps data safe and easily accessible in the future.

  Verification

Earlier, in businesses, we had to capture important data manually which was stored in physical files. This signifies that to review the information, you had to locate the file and find what we were looking for—anyone can actually have access to this file.

Thanks to Technology, with the Identity Identification process or Biometric authentication, you can automate data capture and review information. These software tools are specially designed not just to capture data but aim at analyzing information and successfully detecting  fake identities—this reduces the rate of fraud, and sometimes cybercrime.

Also, identification systems offer many solid benefits for governments, private companies, development partners, as well as individuals-by providing a secure and accurate way of identifying the population, these systems can facilitate the delivery of a wide variety of services that increase gender equality, improve access to social safety nets, boost economic opportunities, expand financial inclusion, and many more.

A lot of businesses still shy away from advanced technology because of its supposed complexities; little did they know that when they join the wagon of advanced digital technological crew, they can boost speed to their market products or services, leverage customer satisfaction into loyalty and also  improve profitability.

Ultimately, advanced technological solutions are constantly evolving such as cybersecurity technology, Cloud storage, Advanced AIs and analytics, Biometric Identification, Blockchain and the list goes and on-We, the seamFIXERS, would keep evolving as time goes, rapidly joining the trend of digital transformational leaders, consistently easing business processes with innovative technological solutions.

Technology: An Antidote to Identity Theft In Today’s Changing World.

by Seamfix

As the world continually evolves, technology continues to move at a rapid pace which can be hard to keep up with at times as we are required to adapt daily to new knowledge and exciting discoveries that are constantly changing the way we live and do business.

Technology has led to a transition from the ordinary ways of establishing our identities to new ways. In turn, most people have used technology as a major factor in how they identify themselves and the people around them.

We all know that identity matters, now the big question; What really is Identity?

According to (Weick 1995), Identities are lenses through which people make sense of the world. Imagine meeting someone for the first time and the first question that pops up in your mind is, “who are you?” There is a trigger to know who this person really is and also confirm they are who they say they are. Identity goes beyond knowing your name, age, phone number, and so on. The word “identity” expands from a wide array of various elements.

Identity theft

Identity theft is the term given to a crime where someone else’s personal identifying information is used to commit fraud or make unauthorized transactions. Another one would be cases where someone’s identification details are used without any knowledge or authorization.

Here’s a story of Laura who received a call from a seemingly veritable person claiming to be her account manager. She was asked to send her account details and ATM card numbers in order for her account to be upgraded. Just within seconds, her account was cleared up, leaving no dime for her.

Stories like Laura’s can be very devastating and pretty annoying. Identity theft is happening more than ever before, with more individuals losing their personal data, proprieties and most especially their identity. There are ways, however, that you can protect yourself against these kinds of crimes.

Although most people may say that identity thieves use technology to perform their acts, the truth is that advanced technology is the ultimate cure!

How technology can help

As more and more cases of identity theft arise, so do technologies to mute these criminal acts.

Seamfix is constantly empowering organizations across Africa to transform the identity management space and even beyond with her ever-improving verification services.

As a market leader with focus on everyday identity challenges and risks that individuals face, we have provided a solution that bridges the gap on the security of identities, by providing a platform that validates identities as they come. This solution is Verified.ng

Verified.ng has numerous validation services that confirm who individuals claim to be. Using an intelligent system and set of validation processes to confirm identities online and in real-time, Verified.ng can connect to multiple authorized sources of individuals’ information to confirm the ‘real’ identities of individuals against who they say they are.

CONCEPTUALISING 5G

The world has started seeing the development of a ubiquitous wireless network that will marry data collection and computation with billions of devices. This will provide us with unprecedented insights and abilities that will change what we do and how we do it. This network is called 5G (Fifth Generation Mobile Technology).

It is expected that 5G networks will be at least 100 times faster than current 4G networks and less than one-thousandth of a second reduced latency. Fifth-generation (5G) mobile technologies represent the next iteration of mobile communications technologies that were designed to enhance current (e.g., 3G, 4G) mobile networks. 5G networks are expected to be quicker, of greater capacity, and therefore able to support new options and services. The Consumer Technology Association notes that you can download a 2-hour film in just 3.6 seconds at this speed, compared to 6 minutes on 4G or 26 hours on 3G. 5G promises a world of new opportunities for individuals and businesses.

Impact of 5G

The possibilities of what 5G technology would impact is unfathomable, and the impact is far-reaching.

On Economy

5G has the potential to unlock up to $12.3 trillion of revenue across a broad range of industries with enhanced indoor wireless broadband coverage, augmented reality and virtual reality, asset tracking, and autonomous vehicles. That income figure is almost proportionate to add up to U.S. buyer spending in 2016, and more than the consolidated spending of China, Japan, France, Germany, and the U.K. This income likewise speaks to about 4.6% of all worldwide genuine yield in 2035.

Enhanced Mobile BroadBand

5G network will dramatically extend cellular coverage into a broader range of structures including buildings, hospitals, industrial parks, large venues and low network areas. Also, 5G network will provide an improved capacity to handle a significantly greater number of devices using high volumes of data, especially in highly localised areas. This means that end-users will have improved and more consistent experiences using mobile broadband applications, irrespective of location.

According to the landmark research project commissioned by Qualcomm and conducted by independent, third-party research firms IHS Markit, Penn Schoen Berland, and Berkeley Research Group.

A few major findings from the study are:

It will inspire new growth.

The 5G Global Value Chain, including network operators, core technology and component suppliers, device OEMs, infrastructure providers, and content and application developers, is expected to grow output to $3.5 trillion in 2035 — larger than the entire mobile value chain is today. China will contribute the most in gross output, with the U.S., Japan, Germany, South Korea, France, and the U.K following, in that order. Researchers also foresee 5G supporting 22 million jobs around the world.

5G’s deployment in enhanced mobile broadband applications, massive IoT, and mission-critical services will fuel sustainable long-term growth in annual global GDP. Between 2020 to 2035, the total contribution of 5G to global GDP is predicted to be equivalent to an economy the size of India today — the seventh-largest economy in the world.

It will accelerate innovation.

People are confident in connectivity’s next renaissance: 91% of the study’s respondents feel that 5G will enable new products and services that are yet to be invented. They believe 5G will stimulate innovation, and the technologies and inventions inspired by it will lead to smarter homes and cities, and even healthier people.

The next generation of mobile will inspire the emergence of new industries as well as impact existing businesses and the products and services they design and manage. Business leaders feel strongly about 5G’s promise: 92% think 5G’s ability to protect sensitive data is important, while 91% value its potential to deliver ultra-high reliability. And nearly 70% are concerned that without 5G, their country will become less competitive globally.

WHY DATA CAPTURE NEEDS SPEED.

Enterprise data needs change continually yet at conflicting rates, and in recent times, changes have come at an expanding cut. Instruments once thought to be helpful for huge data applications are no longer adequate.

Two propensities have risen out of this development: firstly, the variety and speed of information that enterprise requires for basic leadership keep on developing. This information incorporates value-based data, yet in addition business information, IoT measurements, operational data, and application logs. Secondly, the present-day enterprise needs to settle on those choices progressively, in light of such gathered data.

Big data was focused on data capture and off-line batch mode operations, modern “fast data” reduces the time between data arriving and data value extraction. Real-time event processing is the opposite of batch data. In real-time fast data, individual events are processed as they arrive, and we talk about a processing time of milliseconds or even microseconds … IMAGINE THE BUSINESS IMPACT THIS WOULD MAKE.

Also, 5G is a great enhancer of AI and ML as it gives a diverse approach of building topnotch systems and also improving existing ones, which would change the way data is captured.

Why is 5G a catalyst for change in Data collection?

5G technology has three technological characteristics that will enable it have a significant impact on Data capture. These are:

1) low latency, 2) high reliability, 3) the ability to support a plurality of devices and sensors, and to translate information from these devices and sensors into critical and meaningful data points.

The effects of these characteristics will be felt equally in both the delivery of mission-critical services, capturing/analysis of data and data automation.

More importantly, 5G and Data capture will definitely unlock new possibilities for data collection and analysis, the impact will be felt by all businesses, all individuals, all sectors and all government parastatals.
