Seamfix Hosts ProductTank Lagos Meetup, June edition.

by Seamfix

The ProductTank Lagos event, organized for practising and aspiring Product Managers, Product Designers, Business Analysts, Product Analysts and other Product enthusiasts organized another edition on the 8th of June, 2019 with the theme, “Building Products Users love: The Product guide to User-centered Design”.

The event, hosted by Seamfix in her office brought together over 200 Product Managers, Product Designers, Developers and other tech enthusiasts to share ideas on User-centered product design.

In her opening remarks, Miss Khadijah Abu (a Product Manager, Payments expert and Fintech enthusiast who is also the Co-organizer of the event) gave an insight on how ProductTank Lagos started and how it has grown year on year, quarter on quarter. According to her, “ProductTank is an informal, friendly event with a few speakers sharing experiences and learnings. Then networking over drinks to discuss further and foster relationships”.

The event featured speakers and panellists with extensive product management experiences.

The first speaker, Henry Uku (a Product Manager in Carbon, formerly Paylater) gave extensive knowledge on building digital products for the Nigerian market. Using Carbon as a case study, he was able to explain how to build a product for the Nigerian market from zero to millions.

The second speaker, Opemipo Aikomo (Head of Product Designs, Paystack) emphasized on the value of design in product management. He was able to show the stages of Design Maturity and how to ensure Design becomes a part of the Company Culture (which is the fifth and highest stage of design maturity a company can attain).

The audience also got the opportunity to ask the Panelists some Product Management and Design questions. The Panel, made up of 4 seasoned Product Managers and Designers; including our very own iClocker Product Manager, Funmilola Aderemi, took turns to answer questions ranging from proper team structure, challenges of being a designer in a startup, how to conduct proper market research, among other questions.

There was great knowledge exchange, given the combined experience of our speakers/panellist and highly interactive engagements by the audience.

At the conclusion of the event, participants got to take pictures, network, eat and play games!
